Ligation

Overview
Ligation is an invasive surgical procedure performed on large, thick varicose veins.

Detailed Description
The end of a varicose vein is tied off and removed from the leg. Ligation is effective in ridding the legs of varicose veins but usually leaves scars from the incisions. It is usually done under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting.
